Yes we would

I'm seeing a pattern this Labor Day weekend - several of the long term males on CD are being a bit~~~curmudgeonly. I wonder what that's about (the moon/stars aren't lined up properly - have no idea what I'm talking about~~~~)

I was reacting more to the shear volume of posting on the part of some people, rather than the seriousness or profundity of the posts themselves. It is the constant nature of the posts of certain people that I find annoying; the tiring, wearisome, compulsive, ubiquitous nature of a few posters which makes one (and I know from DM's that I am not alone in this) say to one's self, "Oh no, not him (or her) again". Yes, I am aware that there are ways to tune that out. First, there are many threads where, because of the thread title, I know I'm not interested and I don't even read the OP, much less respond in that thread. I'm sure most of us do that. Second, we can always put someone on ignore. For a long, long time (over a year?) I didn't have anyone on ignore. Now I do, and is it not because of any level of aggressiveness or overwhelming blatant hostility but because of the irritating nature of the constant repetition of posts of rather predictable content. I was not aiming at Curmudgeon, but that's fine that he caught some flak. None of us, not me, not Curmudgeon, is immune from criticism, and I knew when I opened the subject of compulsive posters that I would get some. I also knew I would get support. But I stick by my own criticism.

Amazing! Already admitted to a degree of guilt. Anticipated some push-back. Didn't anticipate the degree of total ad hominum nor the obsession required and evidenced by an apparent to go back through months or years of postings to accrue a list from a comparitively lengthy period as opposed to, say, a week or two.

I purposely spoke in rather general terms. This reminds me of political sound-bites.

Carry-on! I doubt you'll miss a thing.

.
It wasn't hard; took about 8 seconds. I loved those posts, and have always felt they made an important contribution to this forum--so I was delighted to have a chance to revisit them. I've looked at them often.

I agree with Escort Rider and Curmudgeon... the chat thread is for whether or not your ears have grown in old age, if you are bored on a friday night, if your arse has gotten bigger then your big ears, whatever. Are those thread worthy... nada. Will they continue, most likely. Will I ignore them and the person who started them... yep.

If you feel so compelled to write every little thought, there is twitter. Twitter yourself to death by telling the world your every waking thought that seems important to you. Why feel compelled to fill space here with ridiculous stuff. Start a blog, get your own website, ramble on and on on one of those.

LOL LOL says the guy who's made 1806 posts in this Forum. If that isn't constant posting, I don't know what is. For comparison, I post several times a day, every day, and I've still posted quite a bit less than you (1069 times in this forum).

Sorry if a few regular posters are getting on your nerves, but that's why we have the ignore button.

Cat sitters vs. Cattiness. I'll take the former. And remember, this is chat. Beginning to remind me of a girls restroom in a junior high school. Enjoy!
