It's winter here in Minnesota...
And the gentle breezes blow,
Seventy miles an hour,
At twenty five below.
Oh, how I love ole Minnesota
When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter
And your nose freezes shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave dear Minnesota
Cause I'm frozen to the ground!

thank you, thank you very much~~~~~
Hey, that is GOOD!

UMBRIA: love the poem. Sorry the world has frozen. Maybe we should have a count down to Spring. If I had a calendar, I would start marking off the days. I bet they have an App for that!

I can't help you with the matzoh ball soup or kreplach but a good friend taught this Irish girl that the secret to great latkes is to grate the potatoes by hand (no using a Cuisinart) under water and keep them there until ready to use. This takes some of the starch out of them and that's important for some reason. You use a huge bowl and the grater goes in the water. Then grate, grate, grate away. Be sure to squeeze out all the excess water.

Maybe I need to have a latke party and treat my southern friends to this great item. I'm sure none of them have ever had it.

What happened to global warming??????????????????
I think the theory about GW is that the earth is being blanketed by particulate matter and the sun is not reaching us as it used to. I read that somewhere.

I have read your poem and judged it to be Pulitzer material. Should you produce a volume of Minnesota poems I will either create a book for you or help you find a publisher.

This winter should spur you on to get that For Sale sign into the ground. Since the ground won't thaw till June, you'll have to set it in a cement block.

LOL great poem!!!!!

It's a balmy 22F out but blowing snow is increasing, dunno if the horses will be out long.

Clark, I don't know if an encore is necessary. Maybe the sides and salad to accompany might be a compliment to their efforts? Setting a smart table for the gents to enjoy? Cleanup in appreciation of their efforts? Lots of ways to show appreciation without making it a contest.

Of course, if you feel you must, latkes aren't that difficult. Time consuming but not difficult. Please post more food porn as the saga continues.

Doesn't seem that Spring is so far off when one is counting off the days . . .

Now if only it meant that mild spring weather would absolutely be here by that date. Alas, it is rarely the case. No guarantee that we won't see snow here after that date.
