If it's a Windows laptop, you can connect the tv and laptop with an HDMI cable. You can google "laptop tv DVD HDMI" (without the quotes) to find out more information. Here's a pretty clear how-to:
How to plug in a laptop to a TV via HDMI

When we used to do it, I used a short HDMI and sat the laptop close by the tv, started the dvd, then I moved back to my chair and enjoyed the movie. It's not like you can use the laptop anyway while watching the movie. If you need to pause it, it's no biggie to walk over and click on the pause icon.

We only stream now, haven't watched a DVD in ages. I have a Firestick and get most movies from Amazon.
Previously we had a ROKU but the Firestick beats it to blazes for streaming Amazon movies.

This morning the first snow of winter fell here in Philly. They forecast only 1" but it seems for like 2-3" to me.

Over the Christmas holiday I rented the Disney movie "Wreck It Ralph" and confess I found it entertaining and enchanting. I am never too old for a Disney movie! It came out two years ago and is about two characters in a video arcade game: Wreck It Ralph (who is always wrecking and breaking things at the Niceland Apartment Building) and Fix It Felix who magically fixes all the damage Ralph inflicts on the building.

........Well folks, I gotta share this:

At 3pm here in Western Montana today , it was 52F, blue sky, no wind and no snow on the ground!! Not to say that we don't get our share of Winter Weather---a few week back, I had 18 below zero on the back porch. (now in contrast....the other side of the state today is catchin' hell, and straight north of me up in the Flathead area (Kalispell, Big Fork & Whitefish) they woke up yeaterday to 24 to 30 inches of snow.)
This is why many folks jokingly refer to our Bitterroot Valley as "The Banana Belt".

i heard from my best friend today, it's been crazy with the holidays and we may not hear from each other for months, but we pick up from where we left off without missing a beat, true friends.

She had sad and scary news to share: one of her friends and someone I know through her, had a stroke last week. No known pre-disposing factors; normal weight, BP, cholesterol levels and was working out at the gym before going to work in the morning when the stroke occurred. She is recovering with paralysis on one side, vision loss in one eye, but speech and cognitive functions are not affected. She is in her late 50's.

My friend ended our conversation with this thought being pounded into her yet again: to love harder and live harder everyday. Sobering news made even more so by this person being outwardly healthy in body and habits. I just keep thinking about living and loving harder, I think I found this year's resolution.
