I had a similar reaction to yours - not "hey, that's off topic" but 1) I wondered who is the "some of you" being addressed? and 2) thought it sounds like the poster has a bone to pick and wants to start a discussion. In which case a new thread would make sense.

My apologies, I was responding to an earlier discussion.

I thought maybe you were, just can't tell which one, maybe something posted by lead foot Escort Rider?

No need to apologize.

I was posting to some comments about older drivers who should get off the road so younger, faster drivers can get to where they are going faster. In my not-so-humble-opinion faster is not always better and that was my point.

I haven't been on CD in a long time so I didn't realize this thread was so old and everyone had long since moved on. Thought the old stuff was archived.

Good news is I am glad to be back reading on the various threads. Lots of great ideas out there on all kinds of topics.

I am going back to read only now until I figure out how the site works. ....LOL

In my opinion, you did nothing wrong and do not need to go back to "read only". If you have specific questions, I for one would be happy to answer them if you send me a direct message.

Your post was a perfectly good response to a prior discussion, even if you were rebutting "lead foot Escort Rider" (LOL). It is O.K. to respond to an older discussion. Please do not be so easily intimidated.

It was helpful for me to revive an older one as my life has changed so drastically. Sometimes it really helps to get new responses.

It would prevent this kind of thing and make your reason for posting clearer if, unless responding to the post immediately preceding yours, you include the one you're responding to.
You can do that easily by selecting the "quote" button at the bottom of that post and it will automatically insert it in a reply box.
