I may try to get to the last section today.
Thank you for reminding me of one of the main reasons why I moved out of Maryland on the day I retired exactly five years ago!

We've still had a really mild winter. We're not like those New England and New York people. They're tough and they can take it no matter how cold and snowy it is.
Eh, we're not tough, we're trapped! {{{{{{{HiW}}}}}}}

Happy Anniversary, mmob! {{{hugs}}} What exotic locale are you at now?

Zugor, lenora, in_ne and negirl, my heart goes out to you. I know what you mean about cancellling stuff; Dh hasn't been to the chiropractor in four weeks. I've had to schedule my trips according to the days warmest for the week that are without snow, and if there is snow to schedule at least two days after to be sure the roads are clear.

We're going to miss this storm, we're too far north. We have one more frigid night and cold day before we get a week's worth of thirties and forties. BAM, right into spring. Never a dull moment.

On a brighter note, when we get our warmup next week DH is plotting and planning the massive tractor part out. If anyone is interested in a classic Cub Cadet lawn tractor from the late 60's to early 70's, let me know.

Whoa partner hold on a minute. Just hold on a minute. Stop the darn one bragging. I remember fully well your last day at work and how you left and went to the airport. You beat me as it took me to the next day to leave. This weather has been a real challenge for folks there and more than a handful are now joining the retirement elsewhere crowd. If I remember correctly we both retired as winter was approaching and wanted out before we had to shovel. In fact you had a casino with your name on it that first night if I remember right.

It took me two weeks and three cancelled appointments to get the car to the shop. Finally did this week but may have to cancel an appointment late afternoon and early evening today.

Lenora, I have been told it didn't start sticking until about 6 this morning does that mean a lesser snow total. Lets hope.

North Carolina, don't feel bad I am saying MOB was an inspiration to me and now he reminds me he retired two years after I did. Dang this age thing is becoming a mental pain. Minor stuff with each car. The one needed a new battery was five years old and I normally change after three. It had sat in the garage for a couple of cold weeks and didn't start. It quickly took a charge but I don't want to have it die on me away from home. The other car needed inspection and a check engine light came on. Being no longer working we don't go out in bad weather and we have been on a streak here. The dealership is about 30 minutes away but very close to a number of other places we go to at least once a week. It is a mile from my acupuncturist and
I had to cancel that two weeks in a row they were also closed. Wife and I are suppose to get our feet done today (medical manicurist) and we may have to cancel that today. They are a couple of miles from the dealership. All is done now and we have vittles and everything here melts in a day or so. I now remember the connection with MOB he retired after I did and did things in a similar way. Dang it made be feel better at the time just saying it was great love you all but adventure awaits down the highway and we are out of here.

I can't wait either! To me, it's worth losing an hour of sleep to have more light at the end of the day.

I'm one state north of you...our offices are closed today because of the snow.

Whatever!!

I too remember when you left work and hopped on the plane. Your unbridled enthusiasm blew me away then and continues to do so, to this day. Just try not to gloat.

Nope, your memory is only partially correct (or partially faulty as the case may be).

I retired March 3, 2010, hopped on a plane to Vegas @ 4:45pm (iirc) that afternoon, and joined my wife who had moved into our new house a couple of weeks earlier on Valentine's Day.
