I have not been here much the last day or so. How in the world did her thread become negative? There seemed to be no potential in her OP for anything other than constructive comments.

Never underestimate the staying power of the hostile, the resentful, and those filled with ill will. A few people are actually proud of their nastiness instead of being embarrassed by it. It doesn't take a majority of posters in a given thread to create a negative tone - one or two can accomplish that quite well.

Sometimes taking a breather is all that is needed. I retired from the retirement forum for a few days, since it was feeling like work and I found my prospective again along with my reading glasses.

Exactly. There seems to be resentment from 2 posters that I didn't just go add comments to a frugal living thread.

Well, I wanted one that is not really a "frugal living" thread but rather - living well on a budget during retirement.

So why 2 folks have continued being snarky over this other thread . . . is beyond me.

And why some folks have to come on a thread and put others down for their ideas is beyond me. I don't get it!

In any case, I thought about it, and it isn't the first time I have been slapped around . . . but good info on that thread, so I am not going to abandon it.

I will just need to be more circumspect with responding to the Debbie Downers, I suppose.

You underestimate the potential in the retirement forum, lol lol. One of the reasons I will never live in a 55+ community. Old people can be so nasty.

LOL. Same here!!!

I have found that some folks enjoy being contentious just to be contentious.

I grew up around folks like that and don't appreciate it at all.

Amen~~Good way to put it. The realtor in NC just couldn't understand why I wasn't interested in a community that was mostly (not all) 55+. He never did get it.
