I appreciate whomever left me a brief but intelligent reputation comment for the above post, and I wish you had included your user name, as I would have continued the discussion via direct message. That is fine, of course, and I am not complaining. Just wanted to say I was not ignoring the comment, in case you didn't realize you had (perhaps) forgotten to include your name.

That is so cool........

'
When the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team played Smith's rendition of "God Bless America" before their game on December 11, 1969, an unusual part of her career began. The team began to play the song before home games every once in a while; the perception was that the team was more successful on these occasions, so the tradition grew.
At the Flyers' home opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 11, 1973, she made a surprise appearance to perform the song in person and received a tremendous reception. The Flyers won that game by a 2–0 score. She again performed the song at the Spectrum in front of a capacity crowd of 17,007 fans before Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals on May 19, 1974, against the Boston Bruins. Before that game, Smith had a "Flyer Record" of 36–3–1. Boston's forward, Phil Esposito, infamously tried to jinx the Flyers' "good luck charm" by presenting her with a bouquet of roses after her performance. The Flyers won their first of two back-to-back Stanley Cups, winning that playoff series against the Boston Bruins 4 games to 2, with Bernie Parent shutting the Bruins out 1–0 in that game.
Smith also performed live at Flyers home games on May 13, 1975, when the Flyers beat the New York Islanders 4–1 to win Game 7 of the Stanley Cup semi-finals., and on May 16, 1976, before Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, when the Flyers lost to the Montreal Canadiens 5–3 and were swept in that series.
The Flyers' record when "God Bless America" is played or sung in person stood at a remarkable 94 wins, 26 losses, and 4 ties as of April 26, 2011.[6] Smith and her song remain a special part of Flyers' history. In 1987, the team erected a statue of Smith outside their arena at the time, the Spectrum, in her memory. The Flyers still show a video of her singing "God Bless America" in lieu of "The Star Spangled Banner" for good luck before important games.'

I just finished watching a wonderful documentary on Netflix about hiking the John Muir Trail. What great memories it brought back of hiking the Rae Lakes Loop in Kings Canyon NP, especially crossing the swinging bridge at Wood's Creek.

Thanks for asking. They are all good, or very bad, take your pick. This past week I've been transitioning the girls over to Hill's Prescription Z Diet food. They will stay on it for 3 months and then we'll try to see what foods they are allergic to. It's vital that they eat nothing else during that time, not even once a month heart worm chewables so I had to get them straight ivermectin from the vet. I'm trying to keep the back yard mowed extra short to make it easy to find all the poop when I go out on patrol because both of them like to eat it, as well as road apples left by the horses so no walks in the pasture for the rest of the summer. Since this food is very expensive I really don't want to ruin the results.

Zack is showing a little cognitive disability and confusion, not surprising for an 80 pound lab who is going to turn 15 in just 4 more weeks.

They certainly seem to enjoy living in an air conditioned house, don't stay out long during the heat of the day but early evening as things cool down outside sees them romping around, especially now that Daisy has reached her goal weight and Bella only has a few more pounds to shed.

In other news it's FloydFest weekend - about 10,000+ hippies descend on our little community for 5 days of music, music, music and it looks like this year they will have pretty good weather for the whole thing. We often get some intense thunderstorms which turn it in to MudFest in some years.

LOL Umb (and hugs for you) BION I had NO sense of humor when DH met me at 19. I was a cynical 80yo inside. He told me 'you'd better learn to laugh rather than have regret as your companion in old age'. He taught me to be funny.

Zug, you can get Ivermec at Tractor Supply if you have a TSC store. Are worms the problem?

Check out amazon for the food, that Hill's is quite expensive.

Quick Google......
