I did not air "my views of another poster". Where do you get that? Please go back and re-read my post. I let Caladium speak entirely for herself in her own words without commentary one way or the other by me.
When a regular announces her own departure, that is "news" to us other regulars. That is all. Perhaps Caladium will be back this very day or perhaps never, but she has been gone for three weeks, which is highly unusual for her. I'm not sure what point you are making.
I sincerely hope she will be back and I had not realized it had been three weeks. That was very observant of you to realize she had not been posting for that long and to also notice a concern she voiced in another section of the forum.
I have not really paid much attention to those little icons on people's posts. I like the new one they added that designates the original poster.
It may not be a matter of that. Some people are quite visual, as I am. Signs and symbols and graphics take on a much larger visual impact for many of us. I was really turned off by the new identifier buttons myself, as they are "in your face" and distracting from the text of the posts. A tiny discrete "OP" symbol in black and white would suffice to remind us who the OP was. As for the "winner" button, it gets old after awhile and if a poster has won more than once, it could make some people feel why bother to enter the contest, it might seem to them like a popularity contest. That said, there may be other ways to see the winners without having to see it every single time you see a winner's post. If that irritated Caladium, I cannot say that I entirely disagree with her.
I just hope everything is okay with Caladium and her hubby. Folks can get sick or have an accident and unless they have another friend IRL who also posts here, we just wouldn't know what happened.
A number of longtime posters have gone off. Knoxgarden, one of those who took so much time to tell us about Knoxville, suddenly went off. I think that with the poster brought up by ER, the case is that she is either not happy about something on CD, or she is incredibly busy around now b/c she was nearing retirement date and all that that entails. You can always DM her to ask how she is, as she may be checking CD but just not posting. Sorry that I felt that the inquiry had some slight shades of gossip.
