Vermont about to become 4th state with aid-in-dying law

Vermont about to become 4th state with aid-in-dying law - CBS News

Vermont is also leading the fore in legislating labeling of GMOs in our foods.

I've always liked beautiful Vermont but always favored Maine in the NE states. I think that with the above two developments, I will look at that state again. It is not far from me, and I have clients in southern VT. Any Vermonters out there who want to tout the state?

today is my last day here in Vermont. I've lived here for 25 yrs and have loved every day of it. It's a great place if you don't mind the weather. Unless you live in the Burlington area, shopping can be an inconvience. I'm leaving because I've had it with winter. Not just the cold, but the grey. I'm going to miss the wonderful friends I've made over the years, but I won't miss the heating bills. Just remember they do have an income tax and they are working hard to raise many of the other taxes.

Aren't the property taxes in VT sky high? I might be wrong about that but I seem to recall people in VT grumbling that the taxes there were getting out of control.

Not as bad as Mass. And certainly nowhere like NH.

The New England winters - there's the rub. The rest of the seasons are wonderful. You don't notice winter so much when younger and in the work force, but in aging, even if you don't have to go anywhere, winter can wear you down. Where are you headed if I may ask?

It just struck me that just about every state retirees mention they want to move to, there are retirees with good reasons wanting out. It's like looking for an unused spouse. One person's mecca is another's former headache. How to make sense of it all...

I ran out today to get some annuals and ran into Escort Rider - yep. He gave me the "Stay" sign (woof) and then he took off and along came another Escort Rider and he gave me the "Stay" sign so I waited and waited and~~~~~~~~~~

I bet you really liked riding your motorcycle and halting traffic

P.S. Last night I had the heat on - today it got to 98F.

Glad you thought of me, but of course it wasn't me you encountered on the road because
1. it was in the wrong part of the U.S.
2. and I haven't done that work in over three years.

Yes, I did enjoy it, not so much the halting of traffic per se, but the challenge of learning how to do so and staying alive while doing it. Plus I loved riding motorcycles. It was a hell of an adventure and I'm glad I survived it.

NE FL is the final destination. Why? I looked into coastal NC and FL and love both. Since youngest daughter is planning on moving to FL. Fl won out. I've been widowed for 8 yrs, retired for 2 and I'm just ready for warmer weather [no I don't mind the humidity]. Hopefully it will help the arthritis.
