A friend and I recently decided we are going to do the Route 66 drive next May. That's as far as we have gotten in our plans. But the whole idea is to fly to the beginning (Chicago?) and drive to the end (California?) and take every side trip that we want. We both like antique shops and thrift shops and "the Big 3", ie. Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.

Oh Michigan Transplant- that sounds AMAZING.......... truly heavenly. When I read this I thought to myself, can I join them ??
It sounds like it's far enough into the future that it really can happen. Such a great plan- hope it all comes together. And the joy of dreaming about and researching about it.

My wife and I drove Rte. 66 from L.A. to Springfield, Missouri (the huge Rte. 66 Birthplace Festival is held there - Aug. 12-14 this year - each year) last November. I had driven and been driven on it many times beginning in the early '50s and ending in the late '70s thanks to Uncle Sam. It was fun revisiting even on a quick trip. Hope you enjoy it, Michigan Transplant.

NO! Just look. Remember someone has to do something with all those "treasures" once you cross the bridge!

I am wondering what the little square after a post or a statement means? I cannot find that symbol on my keyboard, and in any case I would certainly not use it unless I knew what it meant. In the contexts in which I've seen it, it seems to be something positive (like a smiley face), not something negative. I will appreciate any enlightenment you can give me.

My last comment has a green smiley face. I selected it from the list of icons to the right of this message box.

Was it mine?

No. I see your green smiley face as a green smiley face. I am talking about a small square - no coloring and no other marks. I have also seen them in some of the emails I have received recently.
