Sounds like here, although there ARE areas that are getting a lot more rain than we are. We had a huge big storm about ten days ago, and a couple of 'just nice' rains since, but it's mostly dry and hot here. So much for our Monsoon....or is that Nonsoon? Phoenix and Tucson got hit pretty hard. I've been hearing thunder all around us most afternoons but nary a drop of rain. Flagstaff and Prescott get some good rains too. Maybe we don't because of our location in this big valley surrounded by mountains. Not so much looking forward to winter though. I don't mind our summers.

Default Good Morning! Busy day here...

Yesterday was my last day of vacation and I have accomplished 'some' of what I wanted to get done. Back to work today but not till 2 PM so plenty of time for whatever. Right now my "whatever" is watching the rock be put down in my yard! It is going to be sooo nice. Yesterday I had a guy lay the pavers in front for me. Just temporarily so the rock guy would know where to stop. The pavers will have to be redone to get it right but can come later. It already looks tons better. Had my humungous tree trimmed. No more scraping on the roof and gutters...yay! There was a 10X10 on the ground 'platform' out in the back yard where the previous owners had their BBQ and a small picnic table. I had thought about keeping and using it for the same but had it demolished yesterday. Glad I did! It was a mess. The rock will look so much better there.

I bet my neighbors were shocked to be 'disturbed' at 6:30 AM by four huge dump trucks making a LOT of noise! I know I was! I didn't know they'd be here that early but considering our weather it's probably best to get it done early. The kids catch the school busses at the end of my driveway and they were fascinated by it all.

I have a new handyman and I think it's going to work out well. He did quite a bit yesterday and will be back next week to do some more. I need to buy a new kitchen faucet and thermostat for him to install. It's going to take some time but when I finish it all I'm going to be sooo happy. Well, do home improvements EVER get finished?? lol Really looking forward to getting that laundry 'situation' taken care of.

Something I've found out about Vets for Hire. They do have a lot of pro vets but I'm finding out that they are also having to subcontract some stuff. For instance, I thought they had guys who do this rock stuff but they don't. They gave it to a regular landscaping company. The plumbing I need done for the laundry is going to a plumbing company. The companies ARE owned and operated by vets. I need a section of my roof fixed...yup, a roofing company. I know they have some really good carpenters and painters because a friend had them redo her living room. Good work.

AZDesertBrat, home improvents are a perpetual revolving door. I've never popped out the other side yet. Your improvents sound great, you've made the most of your time off.

I made myself a cup of latte with cinnamon on top this afternoon. Sometimes it's the little things that make my day.

PERSEID Meteor showers tonight.

Possibly 150 to 200 "shooting stars" per hour.

Tempted to jump in the truck and head for some of our dirt/gravel back roads with less light pollution than in my immediate neighborhood.

This assumes that I can stay awake that late.

Next Thursday my wife "turns herself in" for 9 months. She's been going back and forth on whether she wants to retire or not at the end of thebschool year. If she does, she plans on subbing to keep her busy

Nine months! Doesn't seem that long...
Hugs! Dang I've been hoping that you'd be able to swing a "mini" vacation here. Yes, time has flown since I've gotten to AZ, and it feels like only a few weeks ago that I came up to visit you and saw your lovely little house. Glad to hear that you're doing ok.

If only the rain could be evened out among different sections of the country, some of which need it desperately while others have way too much. I have a number of cousins and some of their adult children in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Some of them dodged the bullet while others did not. One cousin and his wife now have only the clothes on their back. Most of the phone systems were down yesterday, so news of individuals has been slow in coming.

I know! I've been trying to figure out how to get down there for a while now. One of these days...I promise!

I'm doing fine but get tired sometimes. I'm happy to be getting some things done around here though. You should see my yard! It looks so good and I'm happy with it. My handyman is coming today to do a few more things so it's all slowly getting done. I have enough money to get some nice landscaping done now too. Medicare rejected my cataract surgery request..."not bad enough yet"...so I go to get new glasses today. Otherwise a pretty quiet day.

I wish the rain could be more evenly distributed too! We really need it here. Seems like it rains all over the state...except here! Sorry to hear about your cousins. Yikes! Hope all turns out well for them in the end. Years ago my family experienced the same thing. Escaping with only the clothes on our backs so I can sympathize.

Its been raining here in our part of Texas since Saturday. Very blah. At least it isn't flooding. We had our share of that in the spring.

Some people just love it. I hate it. Cant' go outside. Stuck indoors. Its times like this that I start thinking that if I had a job, these kind of days would just fly by.

The sun has made a quick appearance.
