Frost in the countryside around here tonight. We went so quickly from hot summer to cold...maybe we'll have an Indian Summer in October, here's hoping. Anyone wanting to see the best of New England should come up soon. Apple picking on horse-drawn wagons has started.

Not everyone is addicted to CD forums. Some get tired of one forum and hang out in others; some have a real life that takes them away from being online. Sometimes I ask our Mod to ban me, as I spend too much time here, though I'm getting busier now that the doldrums of summer are over.

Sometimes I get in more of a routine of checking CD forums every night. Sometimes I go up to a few weeks doing other things and not being online so much. Then there are times when I just want to log on to CD and see what certain people are doing. Escort Rider, I enjoyed reading about your recent trip across the country. It sounded like a wonderful time...and something I hope to be able to do again when I can!
I am so ready for Fall to arrive! The last 2 days were nice and cool (for TX) and it is nice knowing that Fall will be here before long.
If I may set your mind at ease somewhat, I am almost 100% positive that nothing bad happened to imcurious. I remember that she used to post in bright purple and could be quite controversial. As for Caladium, last I knew she was posting on forums for the Williamsburg area but that was a while back. Sometimes posters are asked to leave, sometimes they leave of their own accord.

I realize, and I agree, that just because someone disappears doesn't necessarily mean something bad has happened to that person. There's nothing wrong with simply getting tired of posting here, with getting interested in other things. But unless we are in touch with that poster via our private email, or perhaps by direct message on City-Data (as opposed to the open forum), we have no way to know.
In my four and a half years here, I have exchanged private email addresses with exactly one poster. And I have visited in person with exactly one poster (the same one). I am aware that some posters have done a lot of that, and have no quarrel with it. I may be a bit gun-shy about the possibility of weird people getting my contact information; we all have our comfort zone about that kind of thing.
It feels like winter here, very suddenly. Yesterday we were joking that it smelled like snow and taking bets on the amount of accumulation. Not so much of a joke because I just heard on the news that there is a chance of frost in parts of this state. Here we go again.

It happened that I missed Knoxgarden and her posts about gardening and Tennesee and I asked the mod to tell me if she was still on here or not. Of course they did not.
So I found her gardening cronies back in Knoxville and emailed the host who told me she had passed away some time ago. It made me very sad.
Did you ever walk away from the coffee maker and then find out that you hadn't set the pot on correctly so that it went into the pot?
I have everything for sale one place or another and am soooooo glad my ShopVac was still here.
We made the trip to FL over the weekend. Uneventful, which is always good. Our kids had us over for dinner when we got in Saturday night and sent us home with milk, muffins, fresh cut melon, butter and more so we wouldn't need to go to the grocery store in the morning.
I've been organizing, sorting and putting away. DH has started his work week and is traveling tomorrow, I have the two year old today. Things won't get done right away but it forces me to be much more flexible. In NY it's too easy to stay in routine with fewer distractions. The cats are used to living with an older woman. Yesterday even the younger cat had an expression of OMG as she ran by with a two year old in hot pursuit.

I've done that. I actually didn't put the pot on the coffee maker at all! Yep, what a mess and I was grateful for MY ShopVac too. lol
Yesterday was a dreary, drizzley day and I spent a good portion of it reading some fun fiction. Last week both the dogs had lower GI problems and they got to go visit the vet. We can't be sure but it's possible that the dozen or so Canadian geese that spent some time in the back yard eating and pooping might have been the source of their digestive problems. They needed to be a on bland diet for a few days, boiled chicken and rice along with some meds. I must say that when they cook they sure leave a mess in the kitchen so I did have to do quite a bit of washing up between chapters.
I'm becoming more concerned about the growing Ebola outbreak and spending time at a website that tracks all sorts of infectious diseases, reading the latest info about it as well as influenza. It is disheartening to see what a toll preventable and treatable diseases such as polio, malaria and cholera take in places where basics that we take for granted such as clean water, safe food and simple sanitation are so limited or even non-existent.
I am way overdue for a haircut so I might head in to town today and get that done before I reach the point where I am absolutely desperate late at night and tackle the job myself which is never a good thing.
