I am exhausted from shoveling and I haven't touched the sidewalk, front walk or porch steps. Our high temp today was 44 degrees. Tomorrow morning much of the melted snow will be sheets of ice. I'm leaving the sidewalks as they are. IMO, it is easier for the school children to maneuver through a few (?) inches of frozen snow than sheets of ice. I am SO over this weather.
Currently (8:15 am Monday morning) 84 degrees here along the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns, heading to a high this afternoon of 94! But that will be relatively cool compared to this time next week when we'll be in Alice Springs where the temperature is forecast to reach a high of 103!
We had light snow and a little ice earlier in the week. It didn't even stay the week. No shoveling needed--the sun melted it off the driveway. It is currently 50 degrees. There is a chance of snow on Tuesday, the highs on the following days will probably melt it. Except for the recent arctic temps--we have had a very mild winter.

We face fines here for not clearing our sidewalks completely. Everyone and his brother and sister were out there today snowblowing, shoveling, chopping ice, and up on roofs sending huge chunks down.
44 degrees? That's pretty neat. We get rain tonight too and tomorrow I doubt anyone wants to even get up. So many heartfelt good wishes to Bostonian folk. Dress warm, you may be forced to walk a long ways from a disabled sub, as has happened last week.

Last night there was a high wind event here: 30-35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph in the higher elevation. For the first time since moving here about 5 years ago, both the landline phone and electricity went out at the same time. Both were out for about two hours.
But right now it is nearly 70º ! I'm in one of the drought-ridden counties in CA; don't know if this has been discussed here, because I haven't read the whole thread (don't you hate it when someone says that?? )
