I know a lot of you don't particularly care for country/western music. But I just switched over to the award show tonight to the unbelievably thrilling performance by Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood. It is the first time music has affected me like this for a really long time. Wow!
Freeze warning tonight, temp forecast around 20. Of course everything has bloomed out. At least I haven't planted my garden yet, will do that in May.
That's just too cold, too late. Have you started anything inside yet? Tomato plants? Can you start your root vegetables outside pretty soon? I planted three heirloom tomato seeds that I saved from last year. In a big pot. Way too cold outside for them.

Clear and 24 this morning with frost. No, have not started any plants. I usually wait until mid May to plant cold weather plants like lettuce, spinach then will plant my full garden June 1. Nights will be in the 30's until then.
Of course, ALL the apricot, peach, cherry, apple trees have blooms since it's been so warm the past month. Oh well.

So different. I almost forgot about planting some lettuce before it gets too hot. Thanks to jim9251 for reminding me. Maybe I'll just buy some plants--the lazy way. I tried making romaine grow by planting a store bought (head?) of romaine that was mostly used up but it didn't work. It would be great to have constant salad greens instead of having to go out and buy them in the grocery store.

I'm already on my second re grown head of butter lettuce purchased from the store.
I do buy the kind that still has the roots attached.
So that's the trick! I've put that bunch of store bought romaine onto a wet paper towel in a cup with a tiny bit of water in the bottom. Probably won't sprout roots though. It's actually supposed to be 70 over the weekend so maybe I should plant it outside.
The sun is trying to come out today and I plan on going out into the teeny garden tomorrow and planting BEETS!
