I always thought Prescott was considered high desert but it gets about 19 inches of precipitation a year, about 10 inches more than most high desert areas. And July-August is the rainy or monsoon season. Even in Albuquerque, we sometimes get rain several times a week in late July to early September. When I was visiting Las Vegas, I asked someone when was the rainy season in Las Vegas and got a blank stare. Perhaps it is the same in Phoenix - no real rainy season.
PhxBarb -- Glad to hear about the rain you are having! What a delight!! I do worry about flooding in the burned out areas; hopefully they will be monitoring the rains closely and will be able to give folks some warning.
Meo92953 -- So you are coming on a trip to AZ? I hope you enjoy all the beautiful sites to see. If you are in the Phx area, I'd love to get together for lunch! Enjoy your trip and be safe!
Jim -- Glad to hear you finally got some rain! We are still waiting down here!!!
Cajun Kitchen new in the area; 1st time I feasted on boiled okra and tomatoes ! The folks came up here from LA; accent so thick, it seemed they just arrived ! Sure enjoyed hearing how much they preferred the weather here up in the Olympic Peninsula; also the fishing is good, though different types of fish are caught.
The camaraderie is what I so enjoy about this Thread; what I so enjoyed with a special group of folks who chose to be survivors not victims; we shared our experience, strength and hope. Prayed to be in the "normal" world, prayer answered, and would enjoy being back with those folks. Bless, not with those folks, BUT with y'all am bless !
We watched dolphins and the sunset from the jetty this evening. As we walked out on the jetty, i took some pics with my phone. Looking to the right was the sunset and looking left was a fast approaching storm. The raindrops were just starting in earnest as we were leaving.
It's been hot and humid here. Watching my great-granddaughter this weekend. Took her fishing and she caught 4 drums to my 0. She told me that she will walking to school this year. I will be taking her Mon-Thur when it's cold out or raining.
Next Monday, my wife and SIL are going to AZ to visit a friend of theirs. Sometime in Oct-Nov, my stepson will be taking us bear hunting in Oregon
Up late, can't fall asleep. Reading a book of short stories by Minnesota authors, published in 2005, title "The Silence of the Loons". Some of these are hilarious & so Minnesotan, with the strong Lutheran culture vibe & the church ladies.
Guess I'll have to keep this one in case I ever get homesick when I move. The Loon is our state bird, for those who didn't know.
Yesterday (Saturday) evening a storm came through, temp went from 92 to 65 in 20 minutes, marble size hail, half inch of rain and 62mph winds. That was AWESOME!
Had some iced coffee last night. Awake till 5 a.m. Cat got me up at 6:30 a.m. Another day "shot."
One thing I don't like about being old is how much more caffeine affects me than it did when I was young. I really miss enjoying an afternoon cup of hot or iced coffee. Later than that, ay yi yi!
So far I can handle a midday glass of iced tea, but don't dare drink one with dinner.

As a person with generalized anxiety, I recognized some time in my 40's that I wasn't doing myself any favors ingesting caffeine. But one thing I learned . . . American instant coffee is garbage. European or Mexican instant coffee is not wonderful but is good. So I went in search of Mexican decaf. It's Nestle, but it's produced for the Mexican market. If I drink coffee, It's Nestle decaf made for the Mexican market.
