Home from my surgery. They removed several lymph nodes and some cancerous tissue, but other than they're saying things look good. I think they got it all, or at least that's what it sounded like they were saying. Glad to have good news. Also glad you guys were here to give me something to do while sick. Once treatments are done I'll probably dial back my postings but I didn't want anyone here to think it meant I was unhappy with CD or Retirement Forum. You guys rock!

I've been following the thread but not posting. Waiting and waiting for news from you. I'm so happy to learn the surgery went well and looks like they got everything. That is fantastic! Now, take care and rest.
Piney Creek -- I'm glad to hear your surgery went well. Enjoyed some well-earned recuperation time as you heal. Prayers for a full recovery. - Hollyhock
Just got an update on Minnesota weather from family. Brrr. Record cold temperatures forecast along with warnings.
Glad I moved to Arizona. I feel for my Minnesota family and friends. Hopefully everyone stays inside in their well insulated warm homes.
It does make me think though, about when I worked at a homeless shelter and the shelter disobeyed the law and put too many people on floors, cots, whatever was available. We were never caught but bet we saved a lot of lives during that time.
My sisters kids and families live in Sioux Falls, SD and I see they are headed to about -50. That's Fairbanks, AK weather! I remember how cold that is. I can't imagine being homeless in 'normal' winter weather let alone what's going on now. Our shelters stay busy here too.
It's been in the 60s here and 40s at night but it's been near freezing at night lately too. Still only running my heat a few hours a day, early in the morning and maybe an hour in the evening. Keeping those bills down!
We are supposed to have windchills of -30 tomorrow. The temperature has dropped two degrees since I’ve been up. My daughter’s furnace broke so I’m at her house to let the repairman in.

One brother and sister are left in Minnesota. The weather there is as bad as yours. Your daughter is very lucky to have you to help her.
I remember one winter when the furnace quit at night (of course) and I took every blanket I had and bundled up with my son, who was a toddler, and shivered until morning when I could call for repairs. It was not a fun night.
It has been snowing here for the last four hours. No blizzard conditions, but a steady, light snow. Good day for staying in, but we have appointments to get our eyes examined, so will be heading out in a few minutes. Not going to even hit 30 for a high today and won't hit 20 tomorrow, but still a lot better than the Chicago area where my sister lives.
