Minervah (and any other Cleveland dwellers on this forum): Did you feel the earthquake today? Cleveland Rocks!!!!
My wife is currently in Cleveland (Parma) visiting relatives, but didn't feel anything or know anything about it until she read about it on the Internet.
So I'm doing some painting today..cutting in. Threw out my old 4ft wooden ladder when I moved. Went to HD and got a 4 ft gorilla step stool ladder. Holy moly..what a difference. Wider oversized steps, so much more stable, it folds totally flat and it's not heavy.
I have a 6ft Werner regular ladder in the garage. That puppy is getting loaded up tomorrow for a trip to Goodwill and I'm off to HD to buy the 6ft version of this step stool ladder.
Just thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone might be interested.
Had my old ladders for so long that I never paid attention to improvements over the years.
Good point. We have a sturdy 4 ft one as well but our 6 foot one gives me scares! That is definitely a good share.
There was a thread on House forums What have you recently bought for your home that you would recommend.......this would definitely be a welcome postI think I will take your word for it and post it there.
Anyway this is a worthwhile thread too within city-data.
I still have my Werner ladders. when I lived in PA, I was only a few miles from their manufacturing plant.
They made good sturdy ladders back then and it's always good to support local businesses when possible. Plus Gunther, Werner's grape ape logo was too cute to pass up, lollol
It's stopped raining, so I've been trying to catch up on mowing . 3-1/2 hours every day as that's about all the longer I can stay on the tractor -- blah. It's only June and I'm already sick of looking at the mowers and the bush hog
It’s been raining here in GA all week. We really needed it, but enough already. Too wet to mow, and the plants that were struggling through the dry 100+ temps are now in danger of drowning.
Scattered showers are in the forecast ever day, but they disappear and either go north or south of here. We had a good rain over the weekend, but I’m back to watering the native bushes/trees and plants I put in seven weeks ago.
That bit of rain was enough to put the invasive plants on a growing spree. There are three vines tangling together making it even harder to pull or dig out. Two are category 1 invasives and the other one is native muscadine grape. Non- native plants are invasive and natives can only be called aggressive, not invasive. Ha! Semantics!
For days I've been wondering if it's been just one hummingbird visiting my autumn sage plant. Several times throughout each morning, I've seen a bird flitting around with its beak inside the blossoms.
Got my answer a few minutes ago--there were two hummingbirds there at the same time. One chased the other away, then came back to enjoy its harvest of nectar.
Though the plant says "direct sunlight", I think the desert sun and heat may be a bit too much. By late afternoon, the plant is wilting and I have to water it again.
On our way to my outpatient therapy this morning, I couldn't help but think of what a beautiful day it is. At 10 am, it was 66 degrees, loads of sunshine and the air is nice and dry. It is going to be down to 47 tonight. Everything is lush and green. Sure a wonderful change from Central Florida in June.
This has been a spotty summer for hummingbirds, so far. Just see one now and then at the feeder in the back yard. Last year they were fighting for a place at it. Once the hostas are blooming we may be seeing them on a more regular basis. Plus I planted a weigela in the front which should attract them when it starts blooming.
95 degrees with a hot howling desert wind, 82 degrees in here. So when's October getting here?
Oh, about 2 days after Jugust and 3 days before Snovembuary. Enjoy it while it lasts.
