I started receiving SSDI back in March of 2011. They sent me a letter that my direct deposits would be on the 4th Thursday of each month. Every month the deposits have been sent on the 3rd Thursday and posted on the next day in my account. A couple of times it didn't come in early in the day and when I called them they stated that it wasn't due to come in until the 4th Thursday, but it always came in later that day anyway.

Yesterday was the 3rd Thursday. I have been checking all day and still no funds. When we called, I was told that it was not supposed to be sent until the 4th Wednesday. (On a previous call I was told that they never send funds out on a Wednesday!)

I don't know what to believe anymore. Since this is my only source of income, I need to know for sure when it will be coming in. Do I believe what they tell me or go by what they have actually done? If it's not supposed to be sent until the 4th Thursday then why have they been sending it on the 3rd one all this time?

I am assuming it is not going to show up today at this point, which puts us in a pretty good bind with no food, no gas and no way to pay our bills that are due NOW. I guess I can see how Social Security is in so much trouble. If this is typical of how they manage things it's a wonder it has lasted as long as it has.

No food, no gas, no money to pay bills yet you got a puter and somehow get internet service. Go pawn your PC.

You should receive you check on Wednesdays not Thursday. You should receive your check on a Wednesday that is the closest to your birth date of the month. Example if the birth date is Sept. 25 it will arrive the 4th Wednesday of the month.

How about truth, try that.

The earliest any given day (say Monday) can be in a month is the 1st. The latest any given day (the same Monday) can be is the 8th.

This makes for one weeks difference.

If my bills are due on the 5th of a month and my "money" arrives on the 1st then I can pay them on time.

If my bills are due on the 5th of a month and my "money" arrives on the 8th then I am late with my bills.

If you are having issues it is not an SSA delivery issue. It is your lack of income and/or understanding.

Tough crowd. My goodness, relax....

But given the political and economic climate we are experiencing, it's probably in poor taste to publicly complain about when you will receive a SS check. Sorry.

To Florida.Bob and JMKing: Both the written post and the link agree with each other. However, the OP specified he is getting SSDI, which is not the same as a retirement benefit. Is it possible that SSDI payments are on Thursdays? I get a regular SS retirement benefit, and it comes on a Wednesday (always) just as you two are saying.

To the OP: You are cutting things way too close if one week makes all that much difference. Although this will not be easy based on your statements, you should try to get a few bucks ahead so that you always have a cushion.

My SSDI comes on the 4th Wed. of the month. Never been "late". As jmking said, it comes as close to your birth date. You were told to expect it on the 4th Thurs. I would go with that. You just got lucky and got it early for a few months. Don't depend on it to be a week early.

My wife is on SSDI. My post is how her lawyer explained it to her and it seems to be the case, at least in her case.
