Does anyone regret their post-retirement move? (blogs, friend, housing, opinion)

I think for a person without kids it is much easier to find a place and be happy. You don't have to think about the distance between you and anyone else.
I don't regret my 2100 mile move. I think it is the best thing I ever did.
We just made a move to the southeast. We totally regret and wish we had taken more time to analysis. Once you sell, you can never go back and that is the horror of a decision we will always wish we had not.

Thankfully we spent several years looking at options for a post-retirement move and no matter how we cut or sliced it, it always came up the Missouri Ozarks which were already very familiar to both of us, even more so to my wife and "If Momma ain't happy ain't nobody happy!".
We love where we landed six years ago and have no regrets.

As for us, it's been 2.5 years and we don't have a single regret. We knew we would be far from my family (siblings and sibs' kids and grands) and some good friends, but I see them at least once a year. We love where we live and have made new friends here. We often wonder what we would be doing back in CA. Probably same old, same old, only with less money than we had before.
We retired from D.C. which was the half way point between our home state in New England and where we ended up in Florida. We chose FL and stayed five+ years before moving north to 'home'. It was never a mistake. I cherish most memories. If anything, we chose the wrong area, too isolated from what we needed to sustain our interest. Now we've been 'home' for 4+ years and, even though we snowbird, we miss things about FL. We see ourselves moving again. Two homes are not in our crystal ball. The upkeep and the funds would stress and strain. Our grandkids are getting older now, they're cellphone reachable, and one of these years we'll sell this place and head south. There are no mistakes, only experiences.

That is hard part of why we regret. We moved here to be close to our two daughters and five grandchildren. Why do we feel this way? we vacation her trough the years, but both of us miss home. we came from Philadelphia area, lived there all our lives, same town. We thought this was a no brainer, but the heart wants to move back.
Part of the regrets is that we feel like a fish out of water. we are trying so hard and keep looking forward to get over this, but it just not helping. We both agree that we'll give it one more year, but after that, we will need to do something.
