(this does not have to be retirement related, just something/someone that makes you happy).

Be honest.

I'll be honest: if this does not have to be retirement related, it shouldn't be on the retirement forum.

Smile Where should it go?

I put it on this forum b/c a lot of people that post in this forum have very insightful views and experience and often give great guidance.

One who is comtemplating a change of lifestyle, location, employment (forced or not) can really learn a lot and not be so afraid of the future.

...when I am happy.

Yesterday it was spending an hour or so with a very good friend. Today it was having two or three totally free hours to sit in the sun and read a book that I have been enjoying. Sometimes it's a nap.

I think happy is about being able to enjoy the best of what's on the menu at the moment. For what it's worth, I think this is an attitude that developed after I retired and grew older.

I am happiest when I feel connected and not crowded with a person.
Alone in my beautiful house in the woods with my adopted dogs content and safe.
When I feel I've really been able to support another person in a healthy and graceful way.

Sorry couldn't resist. Not sure where this would fit - I guess under the "other" area. Anyway -

Some thoughts for me include helping others and being outdoors in nice weather with friends.

Yes and it looks like we should be a happy bunch. Happiness Comes With Age, Study Reveals - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20100517/sc_livescience/happinesscomeswithagestudyreveals - broken link)

It seems most people get happier after age 50.

I am happy doing some gardening sometimes, but I don't want to do this all the time. I am happy reading a good book or going on vacation. Today I was happy running around town with my husband.
