If i have to end up in "The Home" I hope to die of a massive coronary while chasing some cute, red-headed nurse around the corridors in my wheel chair!

The women on my mother's side live to be very old. My grandmother, mother, and four aunts lived to 100 or over. This family longevity makes me take retirement planning very seriously. During her last years, outliving her savings was my mother's biggest fear. She made it with just a little to spare!

My mom is still going at 85. My dad, grandparents, and related aunts and uncles all lived until early 70s - mid-80s. So I'll go with somewhere between 75 (average) and 85 (optimistic).

DANG! A lot of y'all peoples plans ta be around a long time. Hope ya make it!

I've always said that if I did everything to guarantee that I'd live to be 100, I'd have no damn reason to want to live to 100.

Lordy Lordy Won't someone please slip me a mickey when I reach 75? Mom just went into "the home" a week ago. She is 101. I hope the dear Lord sees fit to take me before I have to go too. What a nightmare.

If I don't know I'm there hopefully it will be with the help of Jim Beam or Jack Daniels. No DUI worries and potential child support worries..Jim and Jack have been know to make babies..

On the real I've seen a parent go from a strong strapping person to dwindle to nothing due to health issues. Once I reach age 65 if I make it all bets are off. I will have me an Annuity so I won't run out of basic money for a basic living but I'm going to spend the rest and enjoy life the best I can because once your health goes your done and at upper ages it usually doesn't get any better.

Paternal grandfather - 95 (died in sleep)
Paternal grandmother - 99 (ALF - it was nice though)

Maternal grandfather - 90 (died in sleep) - cool story too
Maternal grandmother - 91 (died in sleep)

Father - 72 (congestive heart failure-had scarlet fever as a kid)
Mother - 89 (had slight heart attack, didn't even feel it; opted for Hospice)

Father in law - 89 (still going; has sibs 92 and 90 still going also)
Mother in law - 74 (Alzheimers)

I just hope I go in my sleep. I really don't want to be hobbling around, however, most people I see today seem in better shape and look pretty good for their age.

Definitely want to go to Heaven though!
