Due to the last 3 yrs of the economy and a divorce I don't get to retire ever.
I just love resentment. I have a sister who is retired but resents that I'm actually having fun. And a sister in law who resents that I have retired, but she can't event thought she lives in a house that costs 3 times what mine is worth, and makes almost twice as much money as I do(and has never saved any of it for her retirement). And she resents that we moved 650 miles north of her, and can't help her take care of the old folks.
Of course when we suggested 20 years ago that buying a house 2 miles from the old folks, when they were just 60 and 70, might come back to haunt her, she would have none of it.
Back in the late 80's every book on retirement savings stated very clearly that when you reached within 10 years of retirement you started putting all your eggs in safe, though low yield investments, since booms always lead to busts. Those people remembered the crash of 1967, and some the crash of 1929. But in the middle of the boom of 2004, all books and advisers recommended riding the crest of the boom, and everyone said that the boom would never crash.
When the founders died, a very wicked witch with a Medieval History Degree came in and played RISK.. We all lost...
So I take it you're not a Carly fan? Me neither.
I have an older brother (by 10 years) who was a daily "miner" with the same company. He was long term with a company they acquired and five years after the acquisition, they took the gold and he got the shaft at 62.
My problems are I am sleeping more, playing more golf, and drinking more...wait...those are not problems...they are what I have wanted to do all my life...LOL
