I have a technique for getting some idea of the weather I'd be seeing in any new location I'm looking into. I first went into the internets Weather Channel, pulled up the average for my location and printed it out in table format. Then, when looking into a new location to hide from our winter I do the same thing. At that point I can compare with the temperature range that I KNOW with what I project for the new location. So, for example:

Cape Cod compared to Aiken, SC;

Winter/Spring

Nov 51 degrees vs 69 degrees
Dec 43 degrees vs 61 degrees
Jan 37 degrees vs 58 degrees
Feb 37 degrees vs 63 degrees
Mar 44 degrees vs 71 degrees
Apr 52 degrees vs 79 degrees
May 62 degrees vs 85 degrees

Summer

June 72 degrees vs 91 degrees
July 79 degrees vs 94 degrees
Aug 77 degrees vs 92 degrees
Sept 70 degrees vs 87 degrees

So, Aikenís January is similar to my late April, early May. Itís February of 63 degrees is my May temp. It also tells me Iíd want to be out of the Aiken area by the middle of May. The information gives me a reference and I find it a handy way to evaluate possible retirement locations.

You must look at dew points (amount of moisture in the air) to know how it will 'feel' at a given temprature. Here is a general guide:

20+C (68F) Oppressive
18C (64F) Sticky
16C (61F) Humid
13C (55F) Comfortable
10C (50F) Refreshing

Air with lower dew points will also heat up and cool down much faster.
