Maybe! My wife is bipolar type 2. I tentatively diagnosed her a few years after we married. We had the diagnosis confirmed, a process in which knowledgeable observation and anecdotal information is useful and she received treatment. She hasn't had a significant episode in over a decade and has recently wound-down from the prescriptions without any noticeable, negative effects since doing so several months ago. So far, so good.
Prior to that diagnosis and treatment she spent 40 years carving out two very challenging and successful careers for herself while raising her two daughters with absolutely no support from her ex, their father.
Bipolar disorder is hugely misunderstood and people use the term pejoratively all the time, i.e. "He/She must be bipolar." if, say, they like mayonnaise with their fries instead of catchup.
One thing my wife is NOT is a drama queen. She dislikes that as much as I do.
