OK! I do remember The Band because of “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” but it was never my genre of choice and I didn't recognize his name. Certainly recognized Emmylou Harris though. She was one of my wife's favorites back in the day.

When my wife said Levon died I said to her if I knew where to get it, we would toke up to him...so at least let us have a drink to him...which we did.....he was our age......LOL

Actually I only remmeber the band once he died really. Never really a fan tho;I have to admit.

Loved "The Last Waltz," where you got the full picture of the band's talents. Manuel hung himself, and Danko died of heart/addiction after his son fell off a roof at college and died. At least Levon died a natural death at an older age.
He was extremely moving as Loretta Lynn's father in "Coal Miner's Daughter," a real natural talent. I'll miss him.
