NEG, my recipe for frozen corn (and string beans) is to drive to the supermarket and buy a bag of Birdseye frozen vegetables.

I'm getting to that as well. In the meantime my little garden is delivering way too many stringbeans, so out I go to pick them....and somehow put them up (will not do canning)....

LOL
We are in the same boat. We have no pensions, were self-employed, and we spent all our working years saving, saving, saving, researching, researching, for retirement, and now we spend way too much time MANAGING all those investment accts. Had no idea all the work it takes to keep that principle alive and healthy in these times.
Those lucky pensioners have no idea---they get a regular check no matter what happens in the economy--while we have to constantly scramble around researching and managing our investments into something safe but then get minimum interest. Imagine how much free time those pensioners must have!

Here's a fresh perspective:

“In my next life I want to live my life backwards. You start out dead and get that out of the way...."

I think Woody Allen also was the one who said we should behave in a manner befitting one's age. I always thought it was ironic that he was the person who came up with that one...

Mountainrose, maybe you should find a good financial advisor and dump your worries into his lap. They aren't all Bernie Madoffs; find a reputable firm which would make good in the event of fraud and turn it over to them. They charge you for it but it's worth it.
