I text but only on occasion. I have clients who like to set up meetings via text . . . sometimes I will get a note to give someone a call to discuss something.

I have several family members and friends who I could text with but we just don't use it very often. We do use chat almost daily. And occasionally, we do Face Time . . . sometimes I skype with clients . . .

For some things, it is just best to have a phone conversation, especially in a crisis or urgent situation. Overall, tho, I would say if I had to give up a form of communication, it would be the phone.

I started using email in 1993 and used to really enjoy keeping in touch via email. Now I find it to be an annoyance except for transmitting documents to clients and occasionally, sending or receiving photos to family members. Of course, it is better than having to talk to people I don't want to talk to but must communication some bit of info, LOL.

I don't text, but I have an old style phone and the fact that I would have to hit 4 "7"s to get to an S would drive me batty.

I'm on facebook but it annoys me so I'm hardly on there at all....

I did text, once upon a time. But I disabled that feature a couple of years ago.

As do I! My many loved ones use it, it works for them, so it works for me.

I'm reminded of stories my mom and aunts used to tell me, re how they adopted the telephone, when their parents (my grandparents) warned them that it might be the end of civilization (or society, forget which) as they knew it.

No. I have no need, plus, when it comes to typing, I type about 200 wpm on a real keyboard and don't want to send out truncated messages with my thumbs and all. I figure a phone call or email is quite sufficient for my needs. I use a very old cellphone on vacation to make appointments and catch up with people, and keep my landline at home.
I do gather that, when phone lines/towers are down, you might still be able to text. Good info if you're expecting a natural disaster. But I live a fairly seclude life and don't need that much phone.

lol I just remembered the guy who almost walked into a dumpster while texting at the Kittery Outlets.
He was only a couple of feet away before the big green thing came into his field of vision.

This is what I have to do since I don't have a "full" keyboard on my phone. A real pain in the neck...

Next phone will need a better keyboard.

Yes, I text. I find it efficient and easy because I have a full keyboard phone to text with. I must say I didn't understand its appeal initially, but have come to appreciate it. I'd much rather be in a waiting room surrounded by people texting than people talking on their cell phones.

I prefer the company of old people who are reading, meditating, or staring listlessly with a trickle of saliva coming from a corner of their mouths. Oldsters who talk to themselves or converse with invisible companions are rather pleasant as well.
