I got a letter from SS stating that I would be getting an increase of $31.00 a month. The letter I got also stated my insurance would remain 99.90.

If the wording in your letter was the same as the wording in my letter, then I think the wording was somewhat misleading:

"We will continue to deduct the Medicare Part B (medical insurance) premium of $99.90 form your payments."

Notice that statement doesn't address the issue of how long the premium will continue at that level. I believe you will see the deduction increase by $5 effective with either your January or your February check. Another poster addressed this same issue a few posts upthread.

SS announced the new Medicare rate on 11/19. If your letter from SS was dated before 11/19, you pay $104.90 for Medicare in 2013. I haven't received any letter from SS yet on 2013, but I know my benefit is going up $33 and fully expect Medicare premium to be $104.90.

I haven't gotten a notice yet. A difference may be when you applied for Medicare. 2 or 3 years ago I was getting $140 per month SS check. They took another 100 for Medicare which dropped me back to $40 per month the next year. I am now at $180 per month this year on my SS check.

I got my 2013 benefits letter today. Looks like I got a $20 'raise', but you're right...Medicare went up $5 to $104.90. So I ended up with $15 more in my check every month. I'll take it! It all goes into savings anyway so that's good!
