Are You Saving Enough for Retirement or Will You Be Working at Age 80 or Beyond?

Recently I've come across a number of articles saying that whatever you have saved for retirement, it won't be enough. So keep that shoulder of yours jammed up against the grindstone, because you've still got a lot of work ahead of you. No matter how much you've saved.

We have not found such to be the case.

I am on pension, we paid cash to buy the land where we have retired onto. I am building our farmhouse / farm; while my DW works part-time.

During my career, we kept moving generally every three years to other parts of the country or over-seas, and while raising our family, my DW rarely had the opportunity to work outside of the home. So now she is pursuing that.

I suspect that when our house is completed, she will likely quit working.

I see no problem in retiring, etc; in these times.

I read the article and yes a number of people are in trouble. However tell me how a couple with a combined retirement income of 125K between pension and social security is in not secure with each being lifetime guaranteed payments. Everyone says if you are already in social security you are good. Oh yeah and top on that no mortgage and 400K plus set aside for medical overage. Thats on top of good health coverage. That while not the norm is not unusual. The trick is the no debt part. Young people its not to late go to work for the public good and the public will be good to you.
