When all the male doctors, policemen, firemen, dentists, lawyers, and school teachers reminded me of Doogie Howser.
When I have to card people at work for alcohol purchases I just tell them that the older I get the younger they look! And it's true. Some of those 40 somethings look really young these days.
When did you know you just weren't so young anymore?
Today. I walked 36 holes of golf and at about the 19th hole, my legs were sore and my back was sore - and they shouldn't be. I run 3-4 miles every other day. But the sore joints, muscles is reminding me that I'm aging (early 50s).
The first sign was when all my bosses, over night, became younger and stupider than me.
The second sign was at about age 55 I found out about a health issue.
The third sign was when I noticed that I have no relatives older then me still alive.
The fourth sign is out of 12 good friends from over the years, only 2 are still alive. Car accidents, cancer, tractor accidents, suicide, other health issues caused them to all lose their lives at young ages. Here's where the common sense goes out the window, out of all my friends, I was the one that lived the dangerous life.
when I got into my mid 30's I realized I wasn't gonna make it to the big leagues !!! That was 30 years ago. On a serious note, other than the aches and pains, you know you're getting on is when you start losing classmates from high school and college. That's a real eye opener.
I thought of something else. When I started buying things and thinking that this is the last one I will ever have to buy. This one will last the rest of my life.
(If that gets to be a cake of soap or a bottle of shampoo it will be really scary.)
When I could no longer pull off all-nighters at age 21 (I'm 23 now)
I'm closing in on 52 and I'll bet I have crows feet darn near as old as you.
