Folks, the thread below has brought up a need: we need a nickname!!

What shall we call it when a bunch of retirees pool their resources and live together in a McMansion? Active Adult Community is too much of a mouthful, and besides that's for large communities. I'm talking about people sharing a house.

So far all I've got is "retirement communes" (too hippy) or "golden girl houses" (too much like a sit com).

"old geezer frat house" isn't right, either.

Maybe "silver fox den" (but that sounds affected).

Let's brainstorm... surely someone has a better suggestion! Who knows, maybe we here at city-data could be responsible for coining a term. Because this is going to be a trend that everyone's gonna be talking about. Any ideas?

When I was a kid, my aunt Minnie lived in a place like that.
We called it The Poorhouse.

LOL

Reminds me of A Christmas Carol, when Scrooge says, "are there no almshouses"?

I'd call it "The Elder Wisdom" house. We could be available to those who actually respect their elders, and need to learn from us.

What do you think of calling them roses?

It would stand for Retiree Oasis, Shared Establishment.

Too cutesy? Hmmm, maybe.

It does have potential, though...

A whole neighborhood of such houses could be a rose garden.
And if you created a written contract for roommate responsibilities, it would be titled "Roses without Thorns."
