I had no intention of making this my first post here, but...here it goes!

Some people never grow up. They just don't. They never learn that the body is just a physical shell and that the really important stuff is found elsewhere. I'm pretty sure that you would be able to recognize a jerk who is just out for sex. They don't stick around for long, so you should be pretty safe if you opt NOT to jump into bed until a truly respectful relationship has developed.

The man that was described in the original post needs to be a shown a mirror so that he can see that his goods don't look so fresh anymore. When you couple that with the fact that he doesn't have much in the manners department, that makes him downright ugly and unappealing!

Don't worry, there are plenty of decent guys out there with enough maturity to know a good woman when they see one!

There was, a rather inappropriate post or two and the responses. They were deleted by the mod.

Point One: His wife had alzheimers, bad enough to go to a facility. So I'm not so sure this would be called cheating. It's a very sticky situation when the spouse doesn't know who you are anymore, and in addition may not remember what sex is.

Point Two: I don't know the exact ratio, but there are many many many more women than men in retirement and assisted living communities. Remember, on average men tend to die before women So yes, he can have his pick.

I'm skeptical that the 85-year-old man remembers what sex is. Who knows what really went on between him and his women friends?

Well gee, I'm terribly sorry neither of you enjoyed this thread. However, it was an earnest question and there were, for the most part, very thoughful and encouraging posts written here. If you're expecting to be entertained and titillated, you should probably move on over to the "Relationships" forum where the "children" post all sorts of interesting, sometimes disgusting but definitely descriptive, stuff ...
As for the rest of us, I find this Retirement Forum to be quite special and interesting with all sorts of relatable situations and solutions.
