I'm a newly retired single guy moving to Hendersonville, N.C. by year's end. I've been earnestly trying to locate an on-line local Hendersonville, N.C. chat room that has a good mix of people from the area with whom I can interact and learn about the town and its residents. Do you know of such a chat room and if so, what is it and how do I find it? (Although I'm somewhat of a conservative liberal, I'm seriously not interested in visiting international chat rooms or others with extreme themes like "looking for love" or "religion", etc).

No idea what goes on in this chatroom, but supposedly the reason for its existence is for people who live in Hendersonville to talk with other residents of the area (and the rest of the world, too, I would guess, lol)

Hendersonville, NC Chat

Anifani821,
(Love your screen name! LOL!) Thanks for the link to that Hendersonville, NC chat room, which I did visit. Although the name of the room clearly states Hendersonville, NC, it's actually an International chat room with a bunch of young uns talkin smack. Do let me know if you find another chat room for Hendersonville, NC. (I may have to start one up when I get there!)

Have you posted on the Western NC forum? Check it out - there may be folks on that forum who have a lead on chatrooms specifically for Hendersonville or close by areas.

Good luck! And sorry about the smack talkin' younguns, lol.

Although it is not a chat room (in the sense of real time give-and-take), you might want to look at [domain blocked due to spam]. They seem to have a section for every town in the entire country, seems like. I was once looking for a weekend house in towns that were small enough not to have a stop light (no joking - that was my criterion!) and [domain blocked due to spam] seemed to have forums for them, much to my astonishment.

The quality of the posts were sometimes limited to "who's the cutest girl in the senior class", but at least they existed. There were at least a few discussions by adults about the characteristics of the area as well - many who, like myself, had a grand desire to get out of urban areas and start gardening.

If you find what you are looking for, I hope you will post it - could be useful to others as well. Happy hunting!

well, that was not too helpful, was it, lol! I should have known. It is the first letter of each of the words in the following phrase: The Old Postman Is Xinghuan.

I am thinking that is what she was trying to relay, lol. That would be my only other suggestion, too.

2012 Election Results Map by State - Live Voting Updates - POLITICO.com

Hendersonville looked very conservative when I was there. It looked like a perfect retirement town.
Asheville is attracting the young musician types, and from the looks of the city park I saw what looked like 60s hippies. From the map above, it appeared that the newbies influenced the vote.
