Ah....thanks for the suggestions I was not expecting this. If they continue to do this, I will leave early as I have 20 days vacation time.

It is very ironic. I don't feel that I owe them anything. I've worked there for 41 years, 5 months. What did they expect....for me to die there???? It is my life and I want to live it my way!

If you spend any amount of time in the corporate world, you should learn one thing. The only person that truly cares about you, is you! If you let them, they will take until you have nothing left to give and then discard you like a piece of rotten fruit. After seeing many a devoted employee treated this way, I subscribe to one man's views as he was dealing with cancer. My job is an 8 hour interuption in my day.
Ennjoy your well deserved rest.

Give him a big, fat number and see if he balks. If he agrees to it, do it for a while and stuff your pockets a little more. Then pull the ejection handle!

Thanks, but no amount of money will cause me to change my mind.

That makes sense to me because you have worked there for over 41 years! My own full-time career was only 34 years and that seemed quite long to me near the end. Money isn't everything, and you should be pretty well set anyway after 41 years.

If we are not destitute (and I'm sure you are not!) then other priorities prevail besides more money. I have posted before that no amount of money will induce me to live in Florida. Same principle.

Retirement day is less than 2 weeks away! I can hardly wait. Things seemed to calm down a bit at work. People are still asking me.... who will replace me. I don't know and I don't care.
