My dad has written two books and writes on the side. He also has a small woodshop that he makes things in. Both are more for fun than anything else though as he is retired and doesn't need the money.
Yeah I've always felt that way too and we're obviously wrong. There is a reason Phil Ivy wins more than most of the others. And I get it, he plays the odds and there is a ton to know that most of us are totally unaware of. But when the room is full of great poker player is Phil Ivy really that much smarter because the river card happened to be the 9 he needed to win the hand? I just don't get it, seems like a ton of luck. But again I realize that's ignorance talking.
I'd say luck is involved in the short run but over the long run, luck runs out and you've only got your skill. The margins may be slim but obviously some manage to make pretty good money! The key is that the game has to has some portion that's not luck.
Oo get back to serious answers :I know a few who started making things like Rod runs who made them before retiring selling items and then others that travel within the state about 6 months of the year making festivals and such where they sell arts and crafts they have made for years. Then other who attend festivals and have food wagons of cultural nature and love it; plus make quite bit of money over a year.
