These women are not famous, but they are in their 70's, take care of themselves, and are still going strong:

Michael Graves, world famous architect and product designer (like the Target teakettle). He turns 80 next month, and as far as I know, is still designing. Saw a documentary on PBS about him -- 10 years ago, he was suddenly paralyzed from the waist down. Didn't retire -- just inspired him to add designing for the handicapped to his long list of accomplishments.

I don't know why my post about Dr. Ellsworth Wareham was deleted, but he's in his late nineties and was a practicing thoracic surgeon until about a year or so ago.

His story reminds me of someone I know who retired in his 80's, moved back to his home state, and set-up a small medical practice. He's now about 91 and very strong.

When one hits 60 is often the turning point to looking and feeling "old."

Nonetheless, I'm digging out my juicer and watching every little thing that passes my lips from now on.

Along with Placido (my heart-throb and favorite tenor of his generation) I love this dame of opera, New Zealand soprano Kiri Te Kanawa, who is now age 72 and has just announced her retirement from the opera stage (no doubt continuing to give concerts).

Then there is the incomparable Jessye Norman (born 1945) here singing a role for a very young woman—Carmen:
