As a content retiree I quoted in another thread put it: don't underestimate "the pleasures of an unstructured life".
My new motto.

Amen to that. For us, we drove really hard over the last few years for the goal of being able to call it quits at work. We managed to achieve that goal, so the foot is now off of the accelerator. Still have to figure out where to finally move to for the next chapter, but we will work on that in a relaxed way.

As for right now, the pool looks very inviting and I believe I will go float for a while and contemplate what the rest of my day may be like.

I love that (as long as we have the money) we can take holidays when we want and for as long as we want. We can look for last minute deals as well. And no boss to ask!

Our trips are usually a month with a two month trip coming up this winter.

For me it ranges from watching the sunrise some mornings to sleeping in on those cold winter days all while knowing that I'm not obligated to going anywhere early. Having the money AND time to do what we please, for the most part. Puttering around our home and getting slowed dowwwwn, reeeaal slooowwwwwwwww.....................And now (9:22 AM) for my third cup of rich coffee..

Awww....I see what you did there, very clever!

I do think you are outnumbered by us vegetables here though....

I'm only half retired at 71. I work every other week. The highlight of my work and retirement days are the same: being intimate with my wife. I hope we never retire at that.
