Those areas in western OR are not cheap, a least in regard to my housing budget, very old, no updates, very little acreage ..this area I wish was, but is not in my price range. The Midwest from MN down to AR to WV, KY, down to Citrus County FL are where my best deals are found, price wise.

Agree but your previous post said you were going to "remain on the West Coast anyway where I belong" so I was trying to come up with suggestions in western Oregon that might be acceptable. I was under the impression that you were giving up on moving to the South or Midwest. I must have misunderstood. Ignore my comment. Good luck with your search.

I am still trying like hell to find a decent fair priced quality property here on the west coast.....just that you suggesting western OR was not very logical, because all us PNW'ers all know how expensive both western WA and western OR are......whether it is Roseburg or Bellingham, and even the rural areas in between (Salem, .....Astoria,...Longview...and etc...) I am looking more at Spokane and Boise...

I am also strongly looking at WV, Indiana, and Minnesota as well.....as I don't consider WV to be be too southern around Morgantown.

Curious what you ended up deciding. I came across this post while searching for how to narrow down where to retire also.

Scanning their posts, it looks like the OP was still trying to make a decision three years after their last post in this thread.

Of the list, I would take a look at Murray KY. A small town with a smallish state college and close to Kentucky Lake and Lake Cumberland. I suppose the closest large city is Memphis. As a kid, I spent summers with my aunt and uncle in Paducah and the area seemed very nice...but that was in the late 1950s. The college would help the economy and provide some cultural and sport diversions. Might be too small.

I would suggest you look more to the southwest but you seem to have your list made up. I lived in Central Missouri and would recommend that area before ever considering Branson.

None of the above. All too hot and too humid for my taste.
