An LA casting agency is looking for age 65+ seniors to feature in "short web documentaries" (i.e. commercials) for a major electronics brand.

Here's what they're seeking:
Quote:
Are you aging with attitude? Do you have a driving passion that defines you? Are you using social media – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr – to let the world know what you care about?
Details can be found at Senior Planet: Casting Now: Someone Like You?

Shouldn't this be in the classified section of the forum?

It's not an ad, it's a link to a Senior Planet article that covers the story and provides details for those who are interested. Senior Planet is not connected to the casting agency. But certainly mods can move it if appropriate.

Sometimes senior actors play roles that are major ones - challenging, meaningful, and central to the film or play. I am thinking of the film "Nebraska" starring Bruce Dern. What a great film, on several levels! Aging was the theme, and Bruce Dern and the actress who played his wife were both terrific.

(Yes, I am stretching the topic a tad, but I immediately through of that film when I read the OP).

I am ALL FOR
- any media that positively spotlights real-life seniors, as in the OP
- any field that provides seniors meaningful, dignified work, as does the TV/Film industry occasionally in movies like Nebraska.

I'll bet donuts to dollars they're looking for the kind of seniors that you see swinging on swings and dancing on 55+ community websites.

Oh yes -- a great film! [Thanks so much! I'm going to watch it again today! Or on one of our rainy days coming up very soon. This rain has got to stop. We all look like prunes here. And for once, it's not from the sun!]

Perhaps, but they previously cast Grandma Betty, who doesn't fit that mold.
