Tons of transplants in the Charlotte area. Fort Mill/Tega Cay are growing like crazy since land has run out in Mecklenburg. SC is way friendlier to retirees than NC.

We have good friends that live on/above an inlet on Tega Cay lake. Big house, lovely neighborhood, nice situ with dock below their house and a boat.

We've been there several times and it seems like a lovely area. No idea on schools as their kids are adults and out on their own. Charlotte is not that far north, and malls and stuff right close by to TC.

Fwiw, both are orig from north Jersey, and both still work, but retirement is in sight. They love it there.

Only con, to me, are the summer temps.

All anecdotal, but my 50Cts.
