Many threads in this forum discuss the relative factors considered in choosing a place to retire.
Like City-Data condensed to pins on a map, this site ranks various factors including cost of living, crime, quality of life, etc. It is international in scope, and is all user generated information (so not authenticated). So if you're trying to decide between Tokyo and Topeka, it might be useful. And certainly fun

I tried it out just now and don't find it that helpful. Not figured in to the COL per location is taxes, as in income, property, excise, and sales. Taxes are the factor that affect retirees most, by and large, as many can own their own home or afford rent.

Totally agree, neg, taxes important consideration. But just because you can't build a house with just a hammer, that doesn't mean it's not a useful tool.
