I will be retiring shortly after turning 66 (next month), my full retirement age. At my financial adviser's suggestion, I will be doing a "File and Suspend" and my wife, who is a year older than I, is filling for spousal benefit. I know that the benefit deposits are made on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Wed. of the month based on the birth date. I'm trying to find out if the deposit schedule will be based on her birth date, the 17th, which would mean the 3rd Wed., or my birth date, the 25th, which would make it the 4th.
I haven't set a definite retirement date yet, but knowing this will help me in planning.

Your birth date as it is being filed on your benefit. If she would ever change over to her own benefit it would change over to her birthday. I know from experience I am on spousal and being paid based on wife's for now.

Thanx for the quick reply. That's what I expected but have been unable to find it anywhere else.

Same for Survivor benefits. My payment on 3rd Wed was based on wife's birthday . Also SS account # and Medicare Card # were based on her SS number. When I switched to my own Retirement benefit, payment changed to 4th Wed, and both account numbers changed to my own SS number.

I get my SSDI on the 3rd Wed. and a small supplement as a widow benefit on the 4th Wed. (Similar birthdates to you and your spouse)
