I took my driver's license, passport, and Social Security card. Better too much, than not enough, LOL.
Three hours of waiting for 5 minutes of talking to get a password so I could create the online account.
That was 6 months ago.

Yesterday was 4 hours waiting, for 10 minutes of talking.
Since it was their mistake - I complained (in my stern voice ) when they said to come back if the money didn't show up in 2 weeks. Which is why I now have a phone number and extension number.

I kept checking my bank account, and nothing showed - so I took a trip to the local SS office yesterday. Printed out a copy of my online application and the email acceptance letter.

Seems my online application got caught in an online loop because some government employee didn't enter a date on their end. That's the easiest way to explain what they told me. My application was just sitting there.

The customer rep said I was the 2nd person that week to report this at their office.

So it's been handed to their tech person to clear up. If I don't have the dollars in my checking account in 2 weeks, I actually have a name, a local phone number, and an extension number to call.
Update - the money showed up in my bank account in 48 hours. It took 2 days, not 2 weeks.

So, kudos to the SS tech person
