Pretty much. For example, with the skill set I have which is kind of specific, I could find another job. But I'm really ready. Since I can do it remotely, I might look to see if I can do some temp stuff filling in for people, etc. But I'm not going to try too hard.
The other posters were right. I'm in pretty good shape financially for retirement. Partly planning, partly luck.

I think you are set. Live a long and healthy and happy retirement. You earned it and that boss from hell probably made you angry and stressful so leave that behind you. Maximize the time you have left with your wife because our plans don't always work out as we wish.
Thought I'd do a 1 month follow-up. Got no calls to come back in and work on things. Don't expect any. In my initial post I said I still have $5,000 left to fund my wife's Roth for 2015. I decided to pull that money out of a non-IRA account to just get it done for the year. Also decided not to tap into IRA's at all. For the last couple years we were pulling 75% of dividend income out of one account and using it to pay for escrow (and escrow like) items.
Once I did that and realized that once we were no longer contributing, and we were no longer withdrawing the 75%.... I came to realize we are totally fine financially just the way we are. We are more then breaking even and re-investing over $15,000 in dividends.
Once that realization sunk in.....any desire to do any "extra work" just totally left me. I'm slowly but surely just working on honey-do's and decompressing after 40 years of work.
Good for you....I'm sure you've earned your free time.....time to do what you really want to do...even if that's nothing much.
I plan to work as LITTLE as possible, until I can retire.
