Old paint

If you mix some kitty litter with your can of paint, it will dry rock hard overnight. Then you can put it in the garbage.

+1 good one, staywarm!

Pulled down another big box of glass, packed the smalls for my consign lady and put the good stuff up on ebay.

Raining cats & dogs out there tonight! I'm not downsizing much anymore since I left most everything when my house was foreclosured. I'm now into re-buying things, but with my mom's passing, the children left had to divvy things up or agree to give them to a thrift store. We did pretty good but I know all of us kept things out of sentimental value. My new home is a small one bedroom apt & I now have to re-think what I kept of mom's

One thing is her dinnerware. Guess she wanted me to have it, but in all reality, it is not my style. But how do you give up something like that without guilty feelings? I mean, how unappreciative, etc.

Meo if it's really not something you would like to use, and you are pressed for space- do any of the family like it and want it? If not, I am thinking maybe (if it's really not something hate but just don't love) you could frame one or display one so you do have it around you in your house but not the full set?

Meo-if it's not really high quality, use some plates under house plants.

Depending on the design, have someone (you?) paint or embroider it, then frame it. It might make it easier to get rid of the dishes.

Those are both good ideas. Thanks. I can keep enough in the cupboard but there is no way I need a service for 12. I think I'll ask the neices if they would like them.

Or put them in a box and shove them under the bed.
Outta sight, outta mind and you don't have to feel guilty about throwing them out.

Negirl, we are shooting for the end of June. DH illness is setting us back a few weeks.

meo, your mom would have wanted someone to love the china, not keep it as a source of grief and mourning, IMO.

When I consign or sell my beloved glass, I think to myself, I had a good time with it, let someone else love it, now it's someone else's turn.

HTH

Sending good wishes your way for DH and the move. You must be pretty well downsized by now. I can imagine you taking off with satchels and toothbrushes, the rest to follow.
