Fantastic idea! We had our annual town-wide yard sales last weekend. I drove through my streets with my eyes closed but weakened at one house. I managed to pick up two brand new kids games for 25 cents each. Then I hurried home.

What did I do to downsize today? Walked down in the basement to find it was raining. In the basement...from a water pipe...........judging from what I saw, by nightfall and over the next few days, some definite down sizing will be happening.

Oh no. I once had a kitchen incident like that but fortunately I was home that day & able to turn off the water before it was too bad.

Sorry you'll have such a cleanup!

Ah, thanks. I'll view it as a motivator - some people don't have to be pushed forcibly. They just do what needs to be done. I hang on to the cliff edge until my arms dislocate, then fall , screaming all the way.

I'm a crisis person too. Unexpected company coming over? All of a sudden my living room & bathroom are clean, although my bedroom door is closed.

Hauled out my 40 year old sewing machine -- have not used it in decades -- and will be giving it to Goodwill. Works fine.

Recently had some unplanned on overnight guests (avoiding the hurricane) so after they left I laid out all the spare bedroom (two single beds) linens. I had 4 sets of sheets with no need for more than 2 sets. I saved 4 sets of towels (bath towels, hand toweds, face cloths) and got rid of the rest. I had two garbage bags full of things. Got rid as in donate to Goodwill.
