I read one study that found that being a little overweight, actually helped people live longer. Actually, IMHO, what ever is going to jump up and bite you is what you'll get. If you make it to seventy, generally you've survived the kind of lifestyle choices that will kill you off early, drugs, alcohol, smoking, obesity. After that its just a matter of what gets you. I know skinny ladies in their 60's with Alzheimers, and skinny old women in their late 80's and 90's still kicking pretty good.

Personally, I refuse to live life worrying constantly about my weight, what I eat etc. I just exercise, eat a balanced diet that I like and keep active.

Actually, I guess the only way to guarantee you will not get dementia is to kill yourself. 50% of people over 85 have some.
