I'm happily married and if something were to happen to my husband, I wouldn't get remarried. I wouldn't mind a male companion as long as he lived in his own house, but I wouldn't want to live with anyone.

But, who knows. I swore off marriage after my divorce and 3 days later I met my future husband.. that was 30 yrs ago.

I hear you!

I enjoy being single..so only if the right woman came into my life. Then I would have to do more than just kick the tires. I would have to look under the hood and take it for a test drive. And be totally convinced that there is no substitute.

She is now 82 and has not regretted her decision at all.

I am 61 and have been happily married for 30 years, and if I were widowed, there is no way I would want to marry again, either. It just wouldn't be fair to any possible future spouse because after having experienced as perfect a marriage as I could possibly imagine, he would definitely come up short.

Are my mother and I unusual? Or do most of you feel the same way?
Your lucky, I have yet to find that perfect person. The ones that i'm really into do not seem to be into me, and the ones I don't really like are the ones you seem to be interested. I'm wondering if this will ever end and i'll find a perfect balance??????

Biscuitmom at post #82, I'm curious where you would likely find romance again.

You are very positive that you would find romance again so i'm wondering what places or activities you inhabit and are involved in that put you contact with lots of potential men in your age range?

If you care to share that, that is....if not, I understand.

Many older women have a tough time finding men to date.
