Did you have the opportunity to leave a legacy at work?

Today was one of the happiest days of my career, when I was told that someone I hired 10 years ago, and trained, worked with, mentored, and felt like a father to, was offered a promotion, and that promotion was my position, which I retire from in 44 days. An extremely proud moment that I hope others have been able to experience.

Congrats! I am happy for you and for the young person who you are so proud of. I wish you both the best in life to come!

I have been blessed in knowing that a young man who went through the "boot camp" program at the correctional facility I worked at as a secretary years ago returned as part of a tour with other staff/folks checking out the positive aspects of the boot camp program. He made it a point to ask for me, and let me know that the "lecture" I gave him as a "trainee" in the program worked, and he had changed his life around. So the saying "if I can help even only one person, then it has been worth it", or similiar verbage, holds true in my case.
