Right now I have a queen-size bed with head and foot boards. I want to get rid of the boards/frame.

Can anyone tell me if my mattress/spring set would fit on just a metal frame? No head or foot board, just the frame.

I should probably know this.... I'm not really dumb. It's just I'm looking for a confirmation or two that this will work.

Thanks.

Yes, in fact many metal bed frames are adjustable for a variety of sizes. Should be easy to find. Might even check craigslist.

Why not get a flat platform bed frame, maybe with drawers, instead of a metal frame that's questionable about fit. Ikea and futon stores sell them.

Default Bed Frame

I'm thinking that once I get to NC I will be able to buy a bed with a headboard, maybe a dresser to go with it. Not sure how those platform beds work.

Probably would not hurt to go to a store and check them out.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Like a lot of other people, I have a temperamental back with some leg pain, etc. Does a platform bed have a spring with it? Platform sounds like there is no "give"..... is that true?

The platform frame does not come with a mattress. You put your innerspring mattress on top of the flat platform. My back is temperamental and most mattresses don't work for me so we have a very high quality innerspring futon mattress that we set on top of a regular innerspring mattress that rests directly on the platform. Feels great. I hate metal anything.
